Leading Edge Golf Weekly Roundup – 5/27

(Click here for the full, media-rich version of this newsletter on leadingedgegolf.ca)

It was a tragic and surreal weekend on the PGA Tour after Grayson Murray died Saturday morning after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Championship during his second round.  Players and broadcasters were shaken all weekend after the news broke on Saturday.  Murray had openly struggled with his mental health and alcoholism during his career but his golf seemed to be turning around after he won in Hawaii earlier this year.  Just a heartbreaking turn of events for his friends and family.  Davis Riley won the tournament (which continued after the Tour conferred with Grayson’s parents) by five over Scottie Scheffler and Keegan Bradley.

The LPGA Tour was off this week but returns this weekend as Nelly Korda seeks her second major in a row at the US Open.

We don’t usually talk Korn Ferry Tour here but affable former PGA Tour player Harry Higgs won for the second week in a row as he looks to work his way back to the big tour.

Some Exciting News to Share – Our New Home

Change is coming to Leading Edge Golf as we prepare to move to a new indoor facility in the coming weeks.  That’s right, after many years at our current home we have decided to make the move to our own dedicated facility.  We believe the added space, controlled environment (no more wind, cold, snow, rain, dust, smoke, and bugs), and state of the art Trackman IO (indoor optimized) launch monitors will allow us to serve our customers better than ever.  We certainly understand that many of our customers enjoy outdoor, full ballflight fittings.  Outdoor fittings have drawbacks though, including inconsistent and sub-optimal golf balls, difficult weather conditions that impact ballflight, and not being able to conduct fittings in poor weather.  We will be able to fit you with the actual golf ball that you play and you can test how different golf balls react.  We also believe that technology has improved immensely in recent years to the point that we are confident that we can meet the standards that our customers demand in an indoor facility.

Our opening date is still to be finalized and we will share it along with the location and photos of our new facility as soon as we are able.  That being said, we expect to be operating in our new home before the end of June, 2024.
