Leading Edge Golf Weekly Roundup – 5/6

(Click here for the full, media-rich version of this newsletter on leadingedgegolf.ca)

Look, I know it must have been tough finding out this newsletter is being written by a Canucks fan last week.  But with Vancouver set up to play Edmonton in the second round, we’re on the same team now right?

We have another Canadian winner on the PGA Tour as Taylor Pendrith managed to hold on to win the (absurdly named) CJ Cup Byron Nelson for his first victory.  Taylor made a move on Saturday when he made back to back eagles and after an up and down Sunday found himself on 18 with a chance to win.  Journeyman Ben Kohles made a mess of the par 5 18th ending up with a bogey as Pendrith watched and calmly lagged his eagle putt close for an easy birdie.  Congratulations to Taylor and it’s great to see so many Canadians performing this year in the lead up to the President’s Cup in Montreal this fall.  At this rate, it may not be the complete blow out that it always is!

I have also been told that Brooks Koepka won his fourth LIV event in the middle of the night with essentially no one watching.  At least they didn’t misspell his name during his post-victory interview.

Hit the Links!

Mackenzie Hughes was ready greenside with the victory beers for Taylor Pendrith.  He probably could have waited until Taylor put his baby down before soaking him though.

The roller coaster that is Jordan Spieth continues.  He replaced his 7 iron this week because he wore the grooves out from practicing with it so much compared to other clubs.  He then used the new club to make an ace.  He then missed the cut in a weak field tournament in his home state.

We really enjoyed this Irons Clinic video from Scottie Scheffler and TaylorMade.  Nothing like getting the thoughts of the best iron player on tour.

Thanks for reading, see you next week!
