Leading Edge Golf Weekly Roundup – 8/26

(Click here for the full, media-rich version of this newsletter on leadingedgegolf.ca)

It was a breakthrough weekend in professional golf as we saw Brooke Henderson rebound from her recent struggles to take home her second Canadian Women’s Open and Tommy Fleetwood finally won his first PGA Tour event at the Tour Championship at East Lake.  Tommy had some recent close calls and you could really feel for him.  No one will be feeling sorry for him now though after he cashed a $10 million dollar cheque.  For Brooke, after playing poorly for most of this season it was great to see her snap out of it and win her second Canadian Open.  Hopefully she can use this as a springboard into the latter stages of the LPGA season.

Speaking of latter stages of a season, we hope you are getting some golf in and if you are that you are carrying multiple cans of bug spray as the mosquitos are something else this year.

Fitting Stories

This customer came in looking for a new driver and he was struggling with a low flying but high spin miss to the right. The player had lots of speed but impact conditions were really holding back his driving distance. Dylan found the Titleist GT2 driver at 11 degrees lofted down to 10.25 with the Tensei 1k Black 65 Extra Stiff shaft played best for him. After discussing it with the client we decided to go with the 10 degree GT2 in the neutral setting because he wanted to use the driver for 10+ years and was committed to working on his impact conditions. We felt the more versatile driver that he could grow into made the most sense for this customer. This demonstrates once again the importance of constant conversation with our customers to really understand their needs during a fitting.
