(Sorry for the late arriving newsletter but your writer is (full disclosure) a Canucks fan and it took some time to settle down after that incredible comeback and OT win yesterday.)
Well, well, well. Someone other than Scottie and Nelly won this weekend. Now, did they both not play? Yes. But still! We at least get to talk about someone else before their rampages through professional golf resume.
It was a team event on the PGA Tour and Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry (aka, Team McIlowry) managed to win in a playoff at the Zurich Classic over Martin Trainor and Chad Raimey on the first playoff hole. Team McIlowry emerged from a boozy post-Ryder Cup lunch last year and it was great to see two of the best in the game pair up and win a team tournament. What do you think, does the PGA Tour need more team golf to keep things interesting or is individual medal play the best format? Meanwhile, LIV Golf was in Australia for their only event that manages to draw a real crowd. Despite a caddy being hit by a water bottle it seemed the event went well and the fans were fired up for what amounted to an Australia vs South Africa playoff won by Cam Smith and the Australians. Good for them, I’m still not watching.
On the LPGA Tour, Hannah Green capitalized on Nelly Korda taking the week off to win the JM Eagle LA Championship for the second year in a row. So there was still a streak maintained after all!
At Leading Edge Golf we are loving the warmer weather and our fitting sheet has been quite full. We have some exciting news to share soon so keep an eye on this newsletter and our social media channels.

Rory celebrated his victory like any of us would, by singing Don’t Stop Believing at the end of the night after several drinks. No word on if the lights at the bar came on right afterward.
We always enjoy the GolfWRX on the ground equipment photos and this week was no exception.
Golf.com had a great deep dive into the grip builds of various PGA Tour players. Hey, speaking of grips…

Regrips
Getting the right grip is very important. The grip is the interface between the club and the player and therefore can have a huge effect on your swing. First of all, old grips are slippery which can cause the club to move during the swing or create tension by gripping it too tightly. The thickness of the grip can also effect how fast or slowly the clubface closes during the downswing which can help create your preferred shot shape. Some people like softer grips, others prefer firmer. Some like tacky grips, some prefer cord. At Leading Edge Golf we offer a wide variety of grips from the major manufacturers and can customize them with tape to suit your preferences. We have a large selection of putter grips as well. Installation is included in the price of the grips but we charge for extra wraps of grip tape if required. Come down and talk to us about your grip needs and we will get you sorted for the 2024 season!
